- Give Referrals – If the job opportunity isn’t right for you, always offer the recruiter referrals. The recruiter will always remember your help in the future and will take your phone call when you call them. Recruiters work very hard to find the right people for the right jobs. The referrals you offer are very valuable.Assisting with referrals is in your best long term interest.
- Don’t be Rude – Generally speaking, everyone is very kind when I call but there are some people who really are rude. I have been in the game industry for 10 years. I know a lot of people. Being rude is a huge mistake and I strongly suggest you rethink your reaction when a recruiter calls. You never know when your paths will cross again.
- Give the Recruiter the Tools to Work With – If a recruiter asks for your resume, and you agree to send it to them, please do so. If a recruiter asks for you to make some changes to your resume, please do so. They know what they need to help you get the job. The recruiter has a great deal of knowledge about their area. Take advantage of what they tell you. If you decide not to work with them, let them know. Communicating with the recruiter is very important.
